16th EXHIBITION: "MATITE IN VIAGGIO - CARNETS DISEGNI PAROLE"
PARTICIPATION RULES 2026


The “MATITE IN VIAGGIO Cultural Association ", in collabration with the MUSEO DEL 900 M9, the ACCADEMIA BELLE ARTI DI VENEZIA, and the CENTRO CULTURALE CANDIANI, organizes the 16th EDITION of the : "MATITE IN VIAGGIO - CARNETS DISEGNI PAROLE" exibition.

The exhibition is aimed at enhancing and promoting the culture of travel and the art of documenting the experience through drawing and writing. Article 3 of the Association's bylaws: "...Visiting countries and places, meeting people and communities, getting to know ancient and contemporary civilizations are the indispensable prerequisites for "travel notebooks" to manifest the will and the dream of recognizing oneself in the freedom and dignity of all people...".

THE EXHIBITION IS RESERVED FOR NOTEBOOKS THAT NARRATE THE JOURNEY AND THE TRAVELING THROUGH DRAWINGS AND WORDS

It will take place from 30.10.2026 to 15.11.2026 at the following venues:

  • - Museo M9 in Venice Mestre
  • - Accademia Belle Arti Pavillon in Forte Marghera, Venice-Mestre


1.SECTIONS OF THE EXHIBITION


  • - GENERAL SECTION OF THE EXHIBITION

    The section will include notebooks that narrate, in drawings and words, the experience of travelling everywhere and in all its forms.

  • - Special Section A: ON AND ON ….WAYFARERS DIARIES

    Traveling on foot or by bicycle, slowly reaching your destination so you have time to get in tune with the places and people you meet along the way. Good shoes, a backpack on, and a notebook to fill with drawings and words.

  • - Special Section B: MUSIC AT FESTIVALS, IN THEATERS, IN THE STREETS

    Played, listened to, sung, or danced to, music is everywhere. as main attraction or just as background, it enlivens popular festivals, shows, or even the streets of many cities.


2. PARTICIPATION

Participation in the exhibition is free of charge and open to all authors of travel carnets, over the age of 18. Authors may apply for no more than two of the sections mentioned above.


3. MATERIAL TO BE EXHIBITED

Each selected Author may submit notebooks and/or single sheets.
The works exhibited must be mainly originals. In case of notebooks, reproductions of the non-visible pages of these may be exhibited in addition to the originals.
Copies may be exhibited in case of authors resident in countries outside the European Union, or in other special and justified cases, at the sole discretion of the exhibition organizers.
The copies exhibited must be of high quality, poor quality copies will not be admitted to the exhibition.


4. APPLICATIONS

Applications must be sent by e-mail within May 31. 2026 to the following address: matiteinviaggio2026@gmail.com

Applications must contain the following documents:

  • - application/acquittance form, completed in full and signed by the author (see link on point 15).
  • - photograph of the author
  • - Short presentation of the work submitted - max 400 characters - max 500 characters total in the case of submissions in two sections.
  • - N° 8 images for each of the sections to which you intend to apply. images must be sent in jpg format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

N.B.

  • - The Presentations will be included in the catalogue and shown in the exhibition, it is therefore essential that they are within the dimensions indicated above, otherwise the MIV organisation reserves the right to modify them at its own discretion.
  • - All drawings attached to the application must be among those that the Author will send for the exhibition.
  • - Images already exhibited in previous editions of MIV will not be accepted.


5. SELECTION OF CANDIDATES

On the basis of the material enclosed with the application, a Commission appointed by the M.I.V. Association will select the candidates to be admitted to the exhibition, and/or to the different sections mentioned in Article 1.
It is recommended that the drawings and words submitted represent, as a whole, the narration of a journey. Completely disjointed drawings do not correspond to the aims of the exhibition and this may constitute grounds for non-admission.


The names of the selected authors will be published by 30.06.2026


The decisions of the Commission are final and unquestionable.


6. SELECTION OF THE OFFICIAL IMAGE OF MIV 2026

From the documentation submitted, the Commission will choose the design to be elected as the official image of MIV 2026.

The author of the design will receive the MIV 2026 AWARD.

The image will be used in any kind of communication related to the event: posters, catalogue, flyers, etc., will be combined with logos, titles or texts related to the MIV 2025 exhibition or related activities.

Such uses shall be understood to be covered by the "Release" as per point 11.

The author undertakes to send the association, via email, the high-resolution file of the chosen image.


7. EXHIBITION SPACES

Each selected author will be allocated exhibition space for each section to which they have been admitted. This space may consist of:

  • - a wall panel, measuring 100x70 cm vertically

  • or

  • - a space measuring approximately 45x160 cm, in show cases arranged on a horizontal plane.

They will be at the discretion of the MIV Organization:


  • - THE exhibition project and layout.
  • - The layout of the drawings in the panels and showcases, exept for the panels already prepared by the author (see Article 8 below), which must still have the dimensions indicated in the previous point.

8. DELIVERY OF MATERIAL FOR THE EXHIBITION

The material to be exhibited must be delivered within by 20 September 2026 to the following address:
Matite in Viaggio" c/o Presidio del Centro Culturale Candiani: Piazzale Candiani n.7 - 30174 Venezia-Mestre, Italy, tel. 041 2746125 - opening hours: Tuesday/Friday 9am-6pm.

The material may be delivered in the following ways:

  • - by post or courier. In this case only carnets or loose drawings should be sent.
    The setting up of the exhibition panel will be done later by the Organisation.
  • - personally delivered to the Presidio Candiani. In this case, panels will be delivered already set up by the author, who will also be responsible for collecting them at the end of the exhibition.

Shipping costs and any insurance for the works will be the responsibility of the individual participants.


Authors resident in non-EU countries do not have to send their originals by post, copies of them will be printed and displayed in the exhibition by the organisation


9. RETURN

Original material will be returned to the author at the end of the exhibition.
Copies will not be returned but kept in the Matite in Viaggio archive, available for any other initiatives.


10. SALE OF CARNETS

During the exhibition, it will be possible to purchase published or self-published collections by the selected authors. The procedures will be communicated to the admitted candidates.


11. LIBERATORY

For the free use by MIV of the material and data received relating to the exhibition, the candidate must sign the disclaimer contained in the form referred to in art.15.


12. PRIVACY

Each admitted author expressly authorises Matite in Viaggio to process the personal data transmitted in accordance with Legislative Decree 196/03 and subsequent amendments, also for the purpose of inclusion in databases managed by the “Associazione Matite in Viaggio”. Participation in the event implies knowledge and full acceptance of these Regulations.


13. LIABILITY

The Associazione Culturale Matite in Viaggio, while guaranteeing the utmost care and custody of the works received, declines all liability for any theft, fire, loss or damage to the works sent, which may occur during all phases of the event from the arrival of the works to their return.
