9th EXHIBITION "MATITE IN VIAGGIO – CARNETS, DISEGNI, PAROLE"
RULES OF PARTICIPATION


The Candiani cultural centre – Venezia-Mestre – and the "Matite in viaggio" cultural Association organise the 9th edition of the exhibition. "MATITE IN VIAGGIO – CARNETS, DISEGNI, PAROLE". The exhibition aims at promoting the culture of journey and the art of recording its experience, by drawings and words.
The event will take place at the "Candiani" Cultural centre in Venezia-Mestre, on October 2019 on the days: 18,19,20 from 10.00am to 7.00pm and on the days: 23,24,25,26,27 / 30,31, and on November 01,02,03 from 4.00pm to 8.00pm.


1. GENERAL THEME OF THE EXHIBITION

Following the previous editions, the general-theme section is dedicated to the notebooks that narrate the journey, through drawings and words.
Each author can participate with works in complete freedom of style and technique.


2. SPECIAL SECTIONS


2.1: BERLIN 1989-2019, THIRTY YEARS FROM TE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL. THE WORLDS MEET EACH-OTHER BEYOND THE BORDERS.

Looking for the places where the walls have fallen.

2.2: THE MOUNTAIN

Geography, antropology, civilization and traditions.


3. PARTICIPATION

The participation is free, and open to all authors aged 18 and older: they will be selected among applicants who have made request according to the following instructions:
The authors can apply for participating to the general theme section (point 1) and/or to one special sections (point 2).


4. WORKS TO DISPLAY

Each selected author, should display his works (notebooks or single drawings): Carnets, drawings and words, that narrate the ways run by visiting near and far places, and meeting people.
Drawings have to be presented in original. Copies are accepted only if coming from pages of a notebook shown in original. All copies have to be of high quality. Bad quality copies may not be admitted at the exposition.
We encourage the authors to support the drawings with written notes, comments or short printed textbrtaken from the same carnets.


5. REGISTRATION

Applications have to arrive by May 30th, 2019 to the email address:

by sending the following documents.

  • - application form signed and filled in all parts
  • - acquittance form signed by the author (see point 13)
  • - photo of the author (300dpi resolution)
  • - short text about life and work (max 400 characters)
  • - n°8 drawings about the general theme (point 1) and/or n°6 drawings for one special section (points 2) in case of application for a section.

All pictures have to be mailed in jpg form with at least 300 dpi resolution.
The pictures mailed in the application, have to be included among the ones chosen for the exhibition.

Works already exposed in previous editions of "Matite In Viaggio" won't be accepted.
The drawings about the general theme must illustrate one or more journeys, many drawings completely unconnected could be refused by the Committee.


6. ADMISSION AND COPYRIGHT

All the documents received will be examined by a committee appointed by the Association "Matite in Viaggio".
The Committee will choose the authors admitted to the exposition. The judgment of the Committee is final and the participants accept it as they decide to make request of participation.
The Committee will choose (among the pictures arrived) the picture to be used as the official image of the exhibition (poster, catalogue cover, flyers etc.).
The author of the picture chosen as the official image of the exhibition will be asked to mail it again in high resolution to the email address: matiteinviaggio2019@gmail.com.
In order to be used in advertising materials for the exhibition, it may be necessary to adapt the selected image to the different forms and dimensions requested. Texts, dates and any other communication connected with the event, can be put beside the image itself.
All the above uses are covered by the acquittance subscribed.


7. DELIVERY OF THE MATERIALS

The selected authors will be contacted within the end of June 2019 for the delivery of the materials.The materials must arrive by august 31st 2019 to the following address.

The drawings or notebooks sent by mail, have to be sent without frame. Framed works can only be delivered directly from the owners who have the charge of taking them back at the end of the exibition.
Expedition charges an eventual assurance will be covered by the participants.


8. EXPOSITION SPACES

The setting up and the organisation of the exhibition are by "Matite In Viaggio".
The exhibition spaces for each author can be on the wall, or in closed showcases. The maximum space on wall is a vertical panel cm 100x70, or in closed horizontal showcase with a maximum space for each author of cm 70 x 70. In the special sections it's also possible to have cm 70x50 horizontal panels. The arrangement of the works will be defined by the organisation according to their quantity and the available area.
The not framed drawings will be exposed in h100x70cm panels provided and fitted by the organisation (or eventually h50x70 for the special sections).
The space allocation of the exposers will be defined by the organisation, depending on their number and the space needed.
The expositors are allowed to use one of the desks in the exhibition halls to show their works, to draw and talk to visitors.


9. CARNETS SALE

Carnets published by the participants, will be sold by a licensed shop, from outside the Association "Matite in Viaggio" during the first three days of the exibition. The carnets can be delivered only to this subject to be sold. The sales will have a 20% deduction on the selling price. The Association "Matite in Viaggio" is not authorised to give any information about carnets sales. Any contact has to be taken with the curator of sales whose address will be notified to the authors in the letter of admission.


10. ACQUITTANCE

Each author allows "Matite In Viaggio" the reproduction and publishing rights of the images and the texts sent for the catalogue, the association archive, and any other communication connected with the exibition organisation.


11. PRIVACY

Each author expressively authorises to process personal data transmitted also for including them in the database of the association. The participation in the event implies the knowledge and full acceptance of these rules.


12. RESPONSIBILITY

While ensuring the utmost care and custody of the works, the Organisation disclaims any responsibility for any theft, fire, loss or damage of any kind, which may occur during all phases of the exhibition.
